Luke Wenke mailed the following letter to the Honorable John L. Sinatra, Jr. while detained at the Cattaraugus County Jail in Little Valley, New York in October 2023. At the time, Wenke was being detained on multiple federal probation violation charges for allegedly contacting multiple victims whom he was banned from having any interaction with.

In one of what would amount to many examples of a bizarre sympathy for child predators, Luke Wenke discusses his supposedly brilliant plan to establish a federal halfway house for sex offenders in the ski resort town of Ellicottville, New York. He suggests that predators could find work operating ski lifts at Holiday Valley because rich Canadians don’t pay attention to the lowly peons who keep their winter playground running smoothly.

Yeah, great idea. Because who wouldn’t want child molesters and rapists serving their family during a getaway to a historically safe area that just had a bunch of sex offenders dumped into it? (Hopefully, you’ve picked up on my sarcasm.)

Thankfully, neither this nor any of Luke Wenke’s other far-fetched business propositions have attracted the attention of anyone in a position to invest and make these things happen. Ever since I’ve known Wenke, he’s been hellbent on get-rich-quick schemes, and people who knew him before me have told me that this preoccupation dates back to his childhood, including when he supposedly thought he could get rich by breeding guinea pigs and selling them to pet stores.
